Jeong Yak-yong got exiled for 18 years and used the time to write 500+ books
Most people would be devastated getting exiled to the remote countryside for 18 years. Jeong Yak-yong (Dasan) said "bet" and became the most prolific scholar in Korean history. During his exile in Gangjin, he wrote Mongmin Simseo, Heumheum Sinseo, Gyeongse Yupyo, and hundreds more. He designed Hwaseong Fortress using a crane system he invented. He studied everything — law, agriculture, medicine, engineering. The man turned exile into a writers' retreat. Productivity influencers wish they had his energy.
