Most people would be devastated getting exiled to the remote countryside for 18 years. Jeong Yak-yong (Dasan) said "bet" and became the most prolific scholar in Korean history. During his exile in Gangjin, he wrote Mongmin Simseo, Heumheum Sinseo, Gyeongse Yupyo, and hundreds more. He designed Hwaseong Fortress using a crane system he invented.
