Jeon Bong-jun was 4'11" and almost toppled the entire Joseon government
They called him 'Nokdu Janggun' (Mung Bean General) because he was tiny. Like genuinely short — around 150cm. But in 1894, this small man led the Donghak Peasant Revolution, the largest popular uprising in Joseon history. Thousands of farmers armed with bamboo spears marched against corrupt officials and foreign interference. They actually WON the first battle at Hwangtohyeon and took the city of Jeonju. The government panicked so hard they asked Qing China for help, which triggered Japanese intervention, which started the Sino-Japanese War. A peasant revolt by a tiny man accidentally changed the entire geopolitical balance of East Asia. Unreal.
